Nissan Skyline – a lesson in dedication

How many times have you seen the likes of Michael Schumacher, Ken Block or drooled over videos of Keiichi Tsuchiya and dreamt of being a professional race driver? For most it seems impossible, which is why we take our hat off to Trevor Sheldrake who has gone one step further than the odd track day. Investing his own time and money, Trevor founded Team Sheldrake Racing in order to compete in races all across the UK. Not only does his Skyline tear up the tarmac on track, it also doubles as his daily runaround – ferrying him from race to race…and if all goes well, taking him home again too.

Trevor has worked hard from the start to get all the relevant licences necessary to compete and really is an inspiration to those who dare to chase their dream. From racing Formula Renault to being close to competing in F3, he is currently the proud owner of a National B license. Trevor has proved his dedication to a costly hobby, but while not everyone is capable of becoming a gifted racing driver, it is possible to own your own track beast!

Having owned his car for 9 years, Trevor’s Skyline is a credit to his hard work and dedication. There have been high points, and the inevitable low points but he has left no stone unturned in his pursuit for the ultimate track winner. From a vast array of Trust/GReddy, HKS, Nismo, Bride and Tein parts, to uprated parts from the R33 and R34 GTR a lot of work has gone into this performance ride.

Engine mods include various uprated parts from the GTR, a huge Trust turbo, GReddy gaskets, pulleys, BOV,  oil cooler, catch tank, oil and radiator caps, Nismo 740cc injectors, thermostat and engine mounts. He also has a fully lightened and balanced bottom end, ported machine head, high lift cams, and a few extra bits of bling just for good measure!

With all that muscle upfront Trevor gets the power to the wheels with a GTR V-Spec LSD/ASD differential, and a set of Tein Super Street coil overs. Not forgetting uprated Brembo callipers and Carbon Ceramic pads to make sure his lift home doesn’t plough into the tire wall at the first corner!
